Meet Alejandrina
Alejandrina Batista
I live with an acute awareness of the complexity of living in a world that is not designed for you. As a Neurodivergent Woman of Latina and African American/Black heritage, the ancestral daughter of those both forced to come to a nation to build it and those choosing to leave all behind in the hopes of building a new life for their children. As an entrepreneur and Mother, as a partner in a mixed-race marriage, I frequently straddle competing expectations.
When you hold an identity outside of the majority you are faced with the pressures of acclimation and assimilation. The pressure of trying to fit in with the distinct understanding that the mold was not created for you. The pressure to wear a “mask” in an effort to appease the internal and external dissonance.
A pressure that can lead to cycles of worry and anxiety, stress that feels insurmountable at times, and wavering of otherwise steadfast focus and motivation.
My hope in therapy is to open a space where you feel free to work through these cycles to meet your goals while you feel calm, confident, joyful, and most of all the ability to be your authentic self. My expertise and experience is in anxiety, autism, and the social and economic factors that impact achievement. My passion is in leveling the playing field for each of us.
I believe in you. In your ability to meet the inevitable obstacles while you reach for your goals and I believe squarely in your ability to shatter every ceiling that is in your way. I look forward to the privilege of being a part of your journey.
